I actually preferred it's combat system to Berseria's aside from the occasionally wonky camera (though I still vastly prefer the team symphonia style to either of them), I kinda like a good old fashioned good vs evil story so the plot worked fine for me, and while the characters are mostly pretty one note, I still enjoyed their personalities for the most part, I particularly enjoyed Lailah's goofy 'random o'clock' moments and Edna's snarkiness (the skit where she tries to infinite loop Alisha genuinely made me laugh). I'm in the minority who quite liked Zestiria, I don't deny it has its fair share of issues, but at the end of the day I had fun with it. I still remember FETHMUS MIOMA and HEPHSIN YULIND lol. To be fair, music and gameplay in ToZ are superior. It's such a nice change of viewpoint especially when JRPG, especially Tales, tend to have ToZ-like storylines. Even after the tragedy, she's just one therion out of many and can be easily replaced while Sorey as a shepherd is one of a kind in ToZ. Technically Sorey was a victim of circumstances as well but he became a unique person at pretty much few days after being born lol while Velvet was a normal person up until the tragedy (so majority of her life was spent as being normal). Unlike Sorey, Velvet wasn't meant to be the chosen one, she's a victim of circumstances. You're literally fighting a person who's striving for the greater good and you out here prioritizing your own revenge. You're playing a bad person, everyone and their grandma in that world think you're bad, the game constantly reminds you you're bad. ToB, on the other hand, is a bit different. Yeah sure, they did explain why the evil is evil in the end but hey, all JRPG do that nowadays. Sorey is such an anime hero, he's the chosen one, his upbringing was already special from the beginning and he's the nicest guy in the universe. I think ToZ gets a lot of flak because it's a very stereotypical good vs evil storyline.
